The answer really is simple, but most people never get it. I think it’s because it’s so simple that most people don’t want to get it. Why? Because, life is complex. We are always running from one appointment to the next (on a constant Starbucks-high) wondering why everyone in front of them has to be going the speed of slime. If we’re not multitasking every minute of the day, we’re just not accomplishing enough to fulfill our destiny. Surely the meaning of life is so big that it takes a lifetime to fulfill! And that’s only if we live long enough or work fast enough to finish.
Well, I have some great news! The answer to the question, “So, what’s the meaning of life“, is quite simple. And it’s something that we already are doing — yes everyone, just maybe not in quite the right way.
The meaning of life is WORSHIP!
Think about it. We all worship something, or someone. The apprentices of this world worship money. The football players worship the glory and the fame. The fans worship the football players. The Smith’s worship the Jones, and spend all of the money they don’t have to try to keep up with them! I believe that hockey fans don’t actually worship the players, rather, they worship the insanity of the event…just take a look at the fan’s outbreak at one of the Nashville Predator’s home games. Please note: this video is only 1:22 long. The actual “outbreak” lasted well over 4 minutes!
I’m sorry, but when the game is held for over 4 minutes because the players can’t hear anything on the ice…that’s what I call insane worship!
Christians are called, or created, to worship the Triune God. Some Christians do, while others do not. Most, I believe, think that worship is the three songs before the offering is taken. Some of those stand satisfied that simply listening to others “worship” during the three songs is a form of worship. Then it’s off to the Olive Garden and on with life.
This blog is dedicated to worship. We will go into all different avenues of what worship is and what it is not. But for now, I would like to know your thoughts.
What do you see OTHER people worshiping?
(I won’t ask you to post what you might be worshiping…God know’s I wouldn’t want to post what I’ve worshiped for the world to see!)
My name is Ernie Rodgers. I am a husband, a father and a lead worshiper. I believe that everyone is worshiping something or someone. The purpose of this blog is to explore the purpose, meaning and ways of true worship...what we are ultimately created to do.
